“Long Ships Sonata” my visualization of an “Abstract Symphony”
What first comes to mind about the theme “Abstract Symphony” are the simple and seemingly random sounds that occur all around us.
At the twin ports of Superior, WI. and Duluth, MN. is a venue where just such a coincidental composition can be heard... the ships horns blowing one long then two short [French Horns] as they approach the aerial lift bridge, the bridge master signaling back with alarm bells [Triangles] and all the while is the overlapping lull of gulls cooing [Double Base] as the next ship approaches.
