Biography
Carl Valentine is a traditional/contemporary artist based in Illinois and Arizona. Originally from New Mexico Carl spent the majority of his time in the southwest feeding his love for art with a self taught approach to drawing and painting.
Carl strives to reveal his soul in his painting. Though inspired greatly by the people in his life, Carl also draws much inspiration from the timeless beauty of the American southwest and coastal regions. Carl, over time, transcended into the beauty and challenges of figurative painting and began creating such works as intimate portraits and figurative works encompassing people, place and time while indulging in a vast array of subjects and surroundings.
The majority of Carl's artwork has been created for private commissions across the United States and he has also been represented through galleries and design firms in Carefree, Cave Creek, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, Arizona.
Artist Statement
My admiration for the elegance of the human form and richness of color and depth afforded by inclusion into the world around us which compliments the subject, reflecting presence and emotion while becoming a place of intimate and timeless space. I harmoniously combine these loves to create paintings with depth, empathy and a heartfelt passion that is "their story".
